Fear is real and no one can tell me different. How is it not real? The Bible itself says repeatedly that we should fear God himself. So again, how is fear not real? This seems to be a very conflicting argument to me. If fear isn't real then are people saying the fear of God isn't real as well or that we should not fear Him? Fear is one concept and doesn't have any subgroups. Fear is fear. Did we forget Sodom and Gomorrah? What about the great flood? The ten; TEN, plagues God put on Egypt? The power he gave Joshua to conquer city after city? And that is just to name a few. And you are telling me that doesn't bring fear of the Man above?
However, from what I am seeing in this argument is that the problem lies within perception, not the actual concept. I feel the advertisement of this issue is misleading. What people are misinterpreting is that the idea of fear IS real, BUT what our fears are focused is not! The only fear we should have is the fear of God, our creator, our King. Fear associated with any other object, idea, or thought is a false perception appearing real.The problem is that we let those earthly fears seem greater than that of the Lord. Unfortunately, as humans we tend to fear what we don't know, failure, rejection, poverty, death, etc. To overcome these "fears" we have to change our perceptions of them, and life itself. Perception is how one can see the forest from the trees. Discipline, wisdom, and faith will get us there, though it won't be easy.
Though I know the message many are conveying when they say "fear is not real" is focused on those earthly concepts, finding a different way of expression can make a huge difference. Now, maybe there is something I am missing or I could be completely wrong and misguided in my analysis. And as the title states, my analysis is incomplete...for now.
